Crimp wave is experimentally investigated and modelled by different ways but always with limited agreement with real fabrics. One of reason is the fact, that real crimp wave is individual and differs from all others. In this contribution an attempt is made to measure average warp and weft yarns crimp measuring; now the term "crimp" is in the meaning of relative changes of fabric dimensions, caused by waves on the yarns. In the experiments the yarns, carefully separated from the fabric, were gripped intodynamometer jaws without any pretension in the lengths, corresponding with lengths in the fabric. Stress-strain diagram can be used to find yarn elongation, at which the yarn is de-crimped but not substantively elongated.
