Main aim of this contribution is a search for relationship between a structure and the air permeability of a woven fabric. Only the woven fabrics with a plain weave are discussed in this paper. In this case is eliminated the influence of vertical inter-yarns pores. It is discussed only the influence of horizontal inter-yarns pores. The shape of these pores is usually relatively the same, but their size is different. The pore size distribution has yet to significantly effect to the permeability of the fabrics. This study also showed that it is not possible to neglect the influence of the yarn hairiness to the air permeability of fabric, when the staple yarns are used.
