Yarn diameter measurements
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Yarn diameter and its variation is a very important parameter for evaluating the yarn quality and evenness. It directly affects fabric geometrical parameters such as the weight per unit area, the cover factor, the appearance, the air permeability and most of the comfort parameters. Measurement of yarn diameter is provided by commercial testing devices of different manufacturers. These instruments have different measuring optical systems and different algorithm s for determining the yarn diameter. This article deals with the measurement of the two air jet yarns produced on two different systems namely Murata Machinery Ltd. and Reiter. The measurements were performed using a high speed camera and the results were compared to commercial measuring instruments; namely Uster tester IV equipped with OM module, Lawson Hemphill CTT with YAS system, QQM 3. Most of these instruments have limited information about the behavior of yarn diameter and its variation on short and long term lengths. The
