SIDE ILLUMINATION OF OPTICAL FIBERS WRAPPED WITH FABRICS
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
The side emitting PMMA Plastic optical fibers (POFs) with 2 mm and 3 mm diameters with good flexibility are widely applied in textile field. The combination of POFs and fluorescent fabrics were considered to investigate the enhancement of side illumination intensity of POFs for the specular application in safety active visible textiles. It is indicated that thick fiber can exhibit great side illuminating effect due to the high ability of acceptance of input light from source. The fluorescent fabric canmarkedly enhance the side illumination of POFs under straight state. When the bending radius of samples is lower than the technical data of bending radius limit, the side illumination intensity is increased, and the smaller the bending radius, the greater the illuminating effect, which could be resulted from the light emitting out from the bending part.
