Characterization of Knitted Fabric Tensile Deformation by Image Analysis
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Elastic fabrics are considered to be of high importance to produce garments with comfortable fittingto the human body. However, the compression resulting from the tight-fitting of such clothing tends to generatehigh-pressure and discomfort while wearing them. In order to design comfortable knitted garments, it isnecessary to predict their distribution of elastic behavior across different body sizes. The standard tensile testingmethods are not sufficient to explain distribution of these elastic properties. When digital image analysistechnique is adjusted to the standard tensile test method, more detailed study and additional results can beobtained. This work presented the digital image analysis method for the measurement of local deformations ofknitted fabrics during tensile testing. The distributions of elastic properties of fabric under different levels ofstretching were determined. The image analysis approach was selected to calculate the gradient deformationtensor under the extension ranging from 10 % to 40 % in respective course, wale and bias directions. Thegradient deformation tensors were obtained by analysis of movements of dots painted on the specimen. In thisway, the outcome of this work will help to construct knitted fabric structures with appropriate pressuredistribution for comfortable body fitting.
