Characterization of mechanical properties of basalt hybrid fabrics
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Technical textiles are one of the imperative subjects in present time. Application of textiles in various protective garments application is increasing day by day. The aim of this work is to investigate the effect of fibre and structure on tensile and dynamic mechanical properties of hybrid and non-hybrid basalt structures. In this study, experimental investigations are carried out to check the mechanical behaviour of woven fabric Basalt/ Polyester (B/ PET) and Basalt/ Polypropylene (B/ PP) fibre hybrid woven and non-hybrid woven fabric. Three types of weaves are used i.e Plain (PW), Matt (MW) and 1/3 Twill (TW) for both hybrid and non-hybrid structures. Tensile testing of all the woven fabrics is carried out. The discussion of results is in terms of fibre effect and woven geometry. It was observed that plain weave has highest modulus in non -hybrid fabrics due to more interlacement. The exposure of fabrics to increase (DMA) shows an increase in the storage modulus indicating higher stiffness and lower damping ratio in the case of hybrid fabrics. These fabrics can be used for temperature resistant applications.
