This study deals with the postwar situation of the German speaking inhabitants of Liberec. The first chapter is dedicated to the history of the Regional Center (camp) in Liberec, which belonged to the most significant institutions of that kind in the whole of Czechoslovakia. The majority of Germans from Liberec has been interned in that facility for a shorter or longer time. It served as a concentration place for persons who were to be transferred shortly after to one of the Allied occupation zones in Germany. Additionally, its purpose was also in interning Germans who were waiting for their trial in front of the Extraordinary People?s Court in Liberec. The second chapter deals with various aspects of the events that accompanied the expulsions and forced resettlement of the German population of Liberec. The third chapter is ded icated to the topic of postwar retribution.
