Measurement of the negative Poisson’s ratio by simple tools is demonstrated on Miura pattern, well known example of an auxetic material. The unusual behavior of Miura origami is shown in contrast of the normal elastic behavior of materials. Students can easily verify the negative as well as variable values of Poisson‘s ratio during elastic deformation by simple means.
