Submission of project application H2020-WIDESPREAD-05-2017-Twinning, Proposal: 809995 — SAAP: This twinning project seeks to develop the concept of artificial urban ecologies to find ways of overlapping the biotopes for various species with human living and building activities. The project is highly experimental, realizing that this type of overlap of living is needed and that it will have to be developed in massive scales and require information technology and robotics in the future. Architecture has to change to become an element playing a synergetic and driving force in overlapping environments. The concept is prototyped in amongst others, the former projects Systemic Approach to Architectural Performance. The Faculty of Art and Architecture at TUL that is to lead the project does not really have history in research and therefore is in crucial need to be widened via strong European partners. This is to be reached through its very strong collaborators in their fields, the Oslo School of Architecture and Design and the Association of Robots in Architecture. The Oslo School of Architecture and Design is the founding and leading higher education and research institution in Systems Oriented Design and Time-Based Design that is key designing and analysing methodology for the project. The team has also strong experience in stakeholders engagement and community co-design implemented within this framework. The association for Robots in Architecture is a pioneering research institution within its field. It is crucial project contributor being responsible for full-scale robotics prototyping strategies, coding and realisation. The team has highly advanced design related fabrication methods and fabrication related design development methodologies, implementing computer aided architectural design and / or fabrication. The research concerns of TUL’s team are on eco-systems within the build up environment with focus on tomebased processes, complexity and full-scale prototyping and prototypes’ time-based performances and interactions across overall eco-systemic agency.
