Investigation of Plasma Treatment of Nanofiber Fabric
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Medical and biological applications such as tissue engineering have high demands on materials. Nanofibers made from polyvinyl alcohol and poly (?-caprolactone) are biocompatible, biodegradable and have specific structural properties. Tissue engineering requires specific chemical properties, which can be obtained by low-pressure microwave plasma surface functionalization. Before such functionalization it is necessary to sterilize the substrate. The aim of this paper is a study of nanofiber functionalization and sterilization of their surface to create functional reactive chemical complex for tissue engineering. These two steps should be performed in one technological process. Experimental conditions were found in order to avoid degradation of nanofibers. Degradation was examined by SEM. For sterilization study, nanofibers were vaccinated with Escherichia Coli and Staphylococcus Aureus bacteria. Sterilization efficiency was evaluated according to the number of bacterial colonies restored
