Das Institut für Fremdsprachen der Philosophisch-Naturwissenschaftlichen Fakultät der Schlesischen Universität in Opava organisiert vom 18. bis 19. September 2025 eine internationale germanistische Konferenz, deren Inhalt eine gemeinsame wissenschaftliche Reflexion über den aktuellen Stand, die Vergangenheit und die Zukunft der Stellung der deutschen Sprache in Mitteleuropa sein wird. Teil der Konferenz, zu der fünfzig bedeutende Gäste aus der ganzen Tschechischen Republik und dem Ausland eingeladen wurden, ist ein Runder Tisch mit Vertretern der Universität, der Stadt Opava, kultureller Einrichtungen und Schulen aus der Region, aber auch Vertretern von Unternehmen und deutschen Vereinen, die in der Region tätig sind. Außerdem gibt es einen methodischen Workshop für Schüler und die Öffentlichkeit mit dem Titel „Wie man tschechische Schüler mit Hilfe der Medien für Deutsch begeistern kann“ und den bereits traditionellen Stammtisch für Deutschlehrer, an dem unter anderem Vertreter des Ministeriums für Bildung, Sport und Jugend, des Goethe-Instituts in Prag, des DAAD, der Versammlung deutscher Vereine in der Tschechischen Republik usw. teilnehmen werden. Das Rahmenprogramm wird vom Sprach-, Kultur- und Methodikzentrum Pro Lingua an der Philosophisch-Naturwissenschaftlichen Fakultät in Opava organisiert.

The Department of Foreign Languages at the Faculty of Arts and Sciences of Silesian University in Opava is organizing an international German studies conference on September 18–19, 2025, which will focus on joint scientific reflection on the current state, past, and future of the German language in Central Europe. The conference, to which fifty distinguished guests from the Czech Republic and abroad have accepted invitations, will be complemented by a round table with representatives of the university, the city of Opava, cultural institutions and schools from the region, as well as representatives of companies and German associations operating in the region. There will also be a methodological workshop for students and the public entitled "How to get Czech students excited about German using the media" and the traditional Stammtisch for German teachers, which will be attended by invited representatives from the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, the Goethe-Institut in Prague, the DAAD, the Assembly of German Associations in the Czech Republic, and others. The accompanying program is organized by the Pro Lingua Language, Culture, and Methodology Center at the Faculty of Arts and Sciences in Opava.
