The aim of this paper is to discuss a position of the Moravian-Silesian Region among Czech NUTS 3 regions. The Moravian-Silesian regions is one of the most populated regions in the Czech Republic. The first part of the paper offers basic trends of regional development in the Czech Republic. The second part of the paper is based on the Czech Statistical Offices regional data. Using selected macroeconomic indicators like the number of population, gross domestic product of the unemployment rate the paper examines development of the macroeconomic position of the Moravian-Silesian Region during the period 1995-2010. The analysis shows that the position of this region has worsened toward national average and a perceptible increase in regional disparities between the region of the capital city and the remaining regions.
