The article deals with the topic of innovations in a wider context - focused on students and running small and medium businesses within the International Regional Cooperation project Interreg (Žilina University and Slezska University). The article dealsalso with the influence of the crisis on the students of OPF Karviná and their look at the possibility to get a satisfactory job in the Czech Republic. The research shows the influence of the crisis on a family, assessment of gained knowledge and currentpossibilities and also the plans connected with the eventual own business in the future. Everything is based on the data from the primary research. The proposals for measures are stated within the discussion.
