The paper deals with the funding possibilities of public sector via the European Social Fund in the current programming period. This paper first describes the European Policy of Economic and Social Cohesion, followed by the description of European SocialFund and its position in the Czech Republic. The next section is focused on the Operational Program Human Resources and Employment and its Priority Axis 4 - Public Administration and Public Services and the possibility of financing projects in this area. The final section provides examples of projects realized by the statutory city Karviná. The entire paper is completed with several graphs.
