Regional competitiveness is an important factor, which directly affects the development and diffusion of innovation and is a prerequisite for the future prosperity of the territory. However ability to innovate, access to knowledge and use of new opportunities and know-how that all varies among regions. Entrepreneurship in the regions is affected by a number of factors, particularly the overall economic situation of the country, employment opportunities as well as professional qualifications and readiness of people to do business, the willingness to bear business risk and the availability of resources. The paper deals with comparison and evaluation of Moravian-Silesian Region and Zlín Region in terms of location analysis of science and research. Location index of science and research was used for comparison and evaluation.
