This article aims to provide an overview of the development of tourist trips in the Czech and Slovak Republics. The article deals with the development of tourism in the Czech and the Slovak Republics with regard to European integration processes. Its attention is focused on tourist journeys, which are analyzed by purpose and length of stay. The gathered data in the years 2012 - 2014 are being compared. In the introduction to the article, the concept of tourism is set in the deeper historical context, followed by the selection of the most important publications on the topic and clarification of key terminology. The research deals with tourist trips in the Czech and Slovak Republics. The analyzed data come from the Czech Statistical Office, which provides Eurostat statistical data to be able to be compared in the European context.
