The chapter is focused on selected results of the victimization survey carried out by the Institute of Criminology and Social Prevention. Field work was completed in autumn 2017. The main aim of this study was to determine the extent of victimization involving 14 selected offences on a representative sample of the Czech population (n= 3393). Although the victimization surveys have a long tradition in the Czech Republic, the presented survey brings some innovations. Besides the possibility of long-term monitoring of crime it also reflects current topics in the field of criminology and victimology. In addition to information about the extent of crime in the Czech Republic (including its latent part), in this study we focused also on specific details related to the victimization (e.g. psychological aspects, reporting an incident to the police or opinions related to the status of the victim).
