Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
This chapter aims to analyse the Slovenian attitude towards NATO over the past two decades. More specifically, it discusses what were the deliberations in Slovenia in the 1990s when the country had to decide how its national security goals are going to be secured against the rise and decline of the so called peace syndrome, which was influenced by the civil war of the early 1990s. Furthermore, the chapter analyses the role that NATO played in Slovenia's foreign and security policy, and why in 2003 the Slovenians predominantly decided that joining NATO is the most viable solution for Slovenia as a small state, despite certain calls for neutrality and even abolishment of the armed forces altogether.
