The paper deals with a simple detection tool for wear estimation of a cutting tool during milling, based on feedforward neural network. An experimental data are used for both training and testing of the neural network. The training data are very specific. They describe only three typical cases of cutting configuration. Therefore, the universal use of the tool is not possible. However, it shows that the idea can be used for building of such a system.
