New material concepts have been looked for in technological practice, which would enable cost reductions and energy savings. Low alloyed TRIP steels with an excellent combination of strength and ductility also belong among these materials. Up to now TRIPsteels have been used mainly for production of thin sheets, particularly in the auto-body industry. The advantages of these materials have not yet been utilized in other types of applications. To use their potential fully in other applications as well,a new unconventional technological chain was designed and tested. This chain enables flexible production of semi-hollow products with marked longitudinal axes from material with high ductility over 20% and strength reaching 1000MPa. Rod semi-products from low alloyed C-Mn-Si and C-Mn-Si-Nb steels were used for rotary spin extrusion at the unconventional temperature of 700°C.
