New concept for production of closed die forgings of ultra high strength steels
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
New concepts associated with lightweight closed-die forgings of advanced steels entail innovative approaches to engineering design and materials of such products. Progress can only be achieved through the use of enhanced properties of multi-phase high-strength steels. This is why the demand for high strength combined with adequate ductility and fatigue properties is constantly increasing. This group of steels typically requires complex thermomechanical processing or heat treatment, which places great demands on equipment and know-how. As most forging plants do not possess those, new production processes are introduced very slowly. The present paper describes the treatment of a new type of AHSS steels which can be processed by forging and subsequent incomplete quenching in hot oil bath. It provides a simplified proces, in which martensite-austenite structure is obtained. After shor-time diffusion-based stabilization of austenite, this structure offers very good mechanical properties. I tis particularly the elongation level of approx. 10 % and the strength of about 2000 MPa, which offer the potential for developing new complex-shape closed-die forgings with high strength and reduced weight.
