The inspiration behind this paper is to help provide a more inclusive environment for our urban citizens, daily commuters, disabled people, and communities by providing innovative technologies to anyone focusing on autonomous driving solutions. The work will look at the vehicle design in the context of urban mobility and investigate the potential of making mobility more inclusive through the design of autonomous vehicles. It will explore this against the wider backdrop of urban transportation and take account of current challenges we face in an increasingly ageing society. The timeline will stretch from 2016 to 2025, balancing the need form immediate design solutions with concept-based outcome.
