The protest movements of 2011 pointed towards a new phenomenon that should not be overlooked in African studies – the growing importance of cyberspace in Middle East and North Africa. Suddenly, we have realized that the Arab world has a flourishing cyberspace, which has brought a completely new dimension to the dynamics of the Arab revolts. This chapter attempts to offer some critical thoughts about the role of Arab cyberspace during and after the 2011 revolts, known as the Arab Spring.
