This paper focuses on the issue of “security enactment” by state authorities. The study draws from positions of symbolic interactionism and specifically from Erving Goffman’s dramaturgical approach, which allows us to analytically reduce public events to staged theatrical performances. In taking such a stance, this paper attempts to interpret the methods via which state authorities enact security at public events.
