The chapter analyses the relationship of the Czech Republic as an EU member state towards Russia. It explains the mutual historical, economic and political aspects of Czech-Russian relations that have resulted in a dramatic decline in Russia's relevance to Czech politics as a result of its imperial activities, which have also significantly affected the Czech Republic. It also notes the critical perspective of the Czech public, influenced by negative historical experience and the current nature of Putin's authoritarian regime.
