In seiner Erzählung Der Honigbaum aus dem Jahre 1934 über die Besiedlung des Böhmerwaldes im 16. Jahrhundert schildert der Erzähler die Geschichte des Bayern Wolf Weiß, der mit seiner ersten Frau aus der bayrischen Gemeinde Loifling (unweit von Cham) unter den Berg Osser umzieht. Die Adaptation ist für Wolf schwierig, doch er gewinnt seine neue Heimat schließlich lieb. Den Kern der Geschichte bildet ein ungewöhnliches Zusammentreffen Wolfs mit einem Bären in einer Baumhöhle voll von Honig. Dieses Ereignis kann als eine sich ereignete unerhörte Begebenheit verstanden werden, der Text kann somit zur Gattung Novelle im Goethes Sinne gezählt werden. Die Novelle mit der für sie typischen unerhörten Begebenheit scheint für Blau in mehreren Fällen eine geeignete Gattung für die Darstellung des Lebens im einstigen Böhmerwald zu sein.

In his story Der Honigbaum (1934) about the settlement of Šumava in the 16th century, Blau narrates the story of a Bavarian, Wolf Weiße, who moves with his wife from the Bavarian village Loifling (near Cham) under Mount Ostrý. The adaptation is difficult for Wolf, but Wolf eventually becomes fond of his new homeland. The nub of the story is an astonishing encounter between Wolf and a bear in the hollow of a tree full of honey. This event can be understood as an unheard event that has occurred; the text can thus be assigned to the genre of the novella in Goethe&apos;s sense. The novella and its typical unheard event that has occurred seem to be a suitable genre for Blau in more than one case to portray life in ancient Šumava.
