Die Studie beschäftigt sich kontrastiv mit Diminutiva in deutschen und tschechischen Märchen des 19. Jahrhunderts und der Gegenwart. Sie konzentriert sich auf verschiedene Typen der sprachlichen Mittel, die zum Ausdruck der Diminution dienen, verfolgt ihre Auswahl und Frequenz bei Substantiven in den ausgewählten Märchen und untersucht deren semantische und pragmatische Funktionen. Aufgrund der Struktur werden die Diminutiva in synthetische und analytische Formen eingeteilt, die in der Analyse unter synchronem sowie diachronem Aspekt miteinander verglichen werden.

The study deals with diminutives in German and Czech in fairy tales of the 19th century and the present. The main task is to compare the formation and development of diminutives in both languages, to find out how often the diminutive morphemes are used and what semantic and pragmatic functions they fulfil. The diminutives collected are classified as the synthetic and the analytic forms. The research is also focused on the change of the relationship between these two classes from the 19th century to the present.
