Malé a střední podniky v sektoru služeb mají nezastupitelný význam pro českou i evropskou ekonomiku a plní v tržní ekonomice významné role v mnoha oblastech; jak v oblasti ekonomické, sociální a environmentální, tak i v oblastech celospolečenského a regionálního rozvoje. Segment malých a středních podniků v sektoru služeb představuje významný podíl na trhu z hlediska jejich počtu, zaměstnaných osob, podílu na tvorbě přidané hodnoty a dalších makroekonomických ukazatelů. Jejich úloha stále posiluje v souvislosti s celospolečenskými změnami a výzvami Společnosti 4.0, které jsou vyvolány disruptivními technologiemi Průmyslu 4.0 s dopady na trh práce, na nový obsah vzdělávání a do všech oblastí společenského, profesního i soukromého života. Toto paradigma je autory monografie promítnuto do struktury a obsahu publikace. Pojetí a zpracování publikace lze označit za netradiční dílo v České republice, ale i v zemích Evropské unie. Úvodní část publikace je zaměřena na charakteristické aspekty včetně kategorizace malých a středních podniků; jsou analyzovány a hodnoceny technologické a sociální změny související s principy, postupy, metodami a nástroji Společnosti 4.0 a jejich dopady na trh práce, ale i vzdělávání. Hlavní část monografie je věnována výsledkům výzkumných aktivit autorů publikace. Jsou prezentovány výsledky kvalitativního a kvantitativního výzkumu, které vedly k tvorbě metodiky adaptace malých a středních podniků v sektoru služeb na implementaci principů, postupů, metod a nástrojů Společnosti 4.0. Využití publikace v podnikatelské praxi je podpořeno uvedením nových poznatků z pohledu praxe pro jednotlivé vybrané obory sektoru služeb v prostředí malých a středních podniků. Disruptivní technologie jsou pro některé firmy praktickým pomocníkem, pro jiné zase investičním strašákem. Pro všechny bez výjimky jsou však neodvratnou budoucností. A pokud se podniky na tyto nové druhy technologií, resp. jejich celospolečenské dopady, nebudou schopny adaptovat, budou se potýkat s existenciálními problémy. Autoři publikace jsou přesvědčeni, že publikace přispěje k rozvoji znalostního potenciálu podporujícího realizaci koncepce Společnosti 4.0 nejen v prostředí mikro, malých a středních podniků v sektoru služeb, ale i k rozvoji vzdělávání v této oblasti a k podpoře aktivit profesních či státních institucí zabývajících se filosofií, vizemi, výzvami a realizací Společnosti 4.0.

Small and medium-sized enterprises have irreplaceable importance for the Czech and European economy. They have significant role in many areas, in the area of economy, social and environmental area and also in the areas of social and regional development. The segment of small and medium-sized enterprises in the tertiary sector represents a significant market share from the point of view of their number, persons employed, share on value added and other macroeconomic indicators. Their role increases constantly in connection with the societal changes and challenges of Society 4.0, which are caused by the disruptive technologies of Industry 4.0 with impacts on the labour market, new content of education and all areas of social, professional and private life. This paradigm is reflected by the authors of the monograph in its structure and content. The concept and processing of the publication can be described as unusual in conditions of the Czech Republic and also in the countries of the European Union. The introductory part of the publication is focused on characteristic aspects, including the categorization of small and medium-sized enterprises; technological and social changes related to the principles, procedures, methods and tools of the Society 4.0 and their impacts on the labour market, as well as education, are analyzed and evaluated. The main part of the monograph is devoted to the results of research activities of the authors of the publication. The results of qualitative and quantitative research which led to the compilation of methodics for the small and medium-sized enterprises in the tertiary sector adaptation to the implementation of the principles, procedures, methods and tools of Society 4.0. are presented. Use of this publication in business practice is supported by the introduction of new knowledge from the point of view of practice for individual selected fields of the tertiary sector in conditions of small and medium-sized enterprises. For selected companies represent disruptive technologies practical aid, by the others can be these technologies taken as an investment threat. For all companies, without exception, represent these technologies inevitable future. And if the companies won′t be able to adapt to these new types of technology, respectively to their societal impacts, they will face existential problems. The authors of the publication are convinced that the publication will contribute to the development of knowledge potential supporting the implementation of the Society 4.0 concept not only in the conditions of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises in the tertiary sector, but also to the development of education in this area and to support of activities of professional or state institutions focusing on philosophy, vision and realization of the Society 4.0.
