There exist some different formulations for the irreversible thermodynamics. Depending on the distance from the equilibrium state and the characteristic time we can see the main theories as the clasical one (CIT), the thermodynamics with internal variables (IVT) and the extended one (EIT). For the researchers dealing with some special applied problems from different fields sometimes is not easy to choose the proper theory and to use it efficiently. Aspecialy EIT is explained mainly for very special choice of the dissipative fluxes under specific pressumptions. This contribution tries to formulate in a simple, unified but enough general form mainly EIT and IVT. There are shown and discused the basic presumptions for EIT. It allows to demonstrate the possibilities for the further generalisation. The formulation allows to join IVT with EIT even for the mixture of chemicaly interacting components and diffusion. The application of this formulation is demonstrated on some examples.
