The current version of the ontological system contains ten interconnected classification systems - CORINE (Coordination of Information on the Environment) Land Cover LUCAS (Land Use / Cover Area frame statistical Survey), PELCOM (Pan-European Land Use and Land Cover Monitoring), IGBP (International Geosphere-Biosphere Program), GlobCorine and UMD (University of Maryland) Land Cover Classification, WISCLAND, NLCD (National Land Cover Database) 1992, GLC (Global Land Cover) and Urban Atlas. The whole system is designed to add another taxonomies or new parameters and their values easily. Ontologies were developed in the Protégé tool. As the reasoner (software for development of derived ontologies) there were used various software components (such as FACT++, Pellet, or HermiT) integrated to different versions of Protégé environment. Ontologies were written in the format of OWL 2.0.
