Experimental study on sacral bone fixation techniques
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
This study is focused on experimental analysis of mechanical properties of selected miniinvasive fixation techniques that are used for surgical treatment of human pelvic injuries. A special attention is paid to surgical treatment of transforaminal sacral bone fracture. Sacral bone fractures together with the fractures of pubic bones and diastasis of pubic symphysis represent the most common injuries in the pelvic region. Herein, the Denis Type II fracture is studied [1]. Eight types of orthopaedic fixation techniques are examined, including transiliac internal fixators [2], iliosacral screws [3], sacral bars [4], transiliac plates [5] and their combinations. Stability of each surgical treatment is evaluated according to the stiffness of the treated pelvic structure and to the relative displacements of both parts of the fractured bone. This study provides a direct comparison of the selected fixation techniques which is hard to find in the published literature.
