Computational modelling of pelvic ring osteosynthesis by minimally invasive fixation techniques
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
A selection of an appropriate osteosynthesis technique is essential for successful medical treatment and minimization of potential negative consequences of pelvic ring injuries. The study focuses on comparison of several types of minimally invasive fixation techniques of unilateral transforaminal fracture of the sacral bone. In order to compare the fixation techniques, both a dedicated experimental campaign and a serie of computational simulations were carried out. The experimental campaign employed orthopaedic pelvic models made of solid foam which were subjected to compressive loading in mechanical testing device. The experimental data were utilised for development and validation of the numerical computations based on the finite element (FE) method. The computational model geometry was based on the computed tomography (CT) images of the experimentally tested pelves. Stability of several fixation techniques for both the linear vertical transforaminal sacral fracture and for fracture with comminuted zone are presented.
