Pro účely správy města Prahy a jeho infrastruktury vznikla v minulosti řada unikátních map a mapových souborů. V současné době je uskutečňován projekt Digitální technické mapy krajů (DTM krajů), který jednotně pokrývá ve vysokém detailu podrobnosti území celé České republiky. Město Praha na projektu DTM spolupracuje se Středočeským krajem a správa DTM je zajišťována Institutem plánování a rozvoje hl. m. Prahy. Kniha podrobně popisuje jednotlivé aktivity projektů mapování ať v režii soukromých kartografů (Hergetův plán), první projekt státního mapového díla stabilního katastru, tématické účelové mapy velkých měřítek až po současnost. V současné době jsou budovány rozsáhlé geografické databáze údajú o daném území jak objektů základní povrchové situace, tak speciálních objektů dopravní a technické infrastruktury se specifickými atributy k jednotlivým objektům DTM. Technická mapa jako grafický výstup je pouze jedním z možných způsobů dokumentace aktuálního stavu v území. DTM má však mnohostranné využití v procesech územního plánování, povolování staveb a procesů digitalizace stavebního řízení, evidence sledovaných jevů důležitých pro správu území, až po účely evidenční. Kniha je důležitým dokumentem doby a významným editačním počinem Institutu plánování a rozvoje hl. m. Prahy.

For the purposes of the administration of the city of Prague and its infrastructure, a number of unique maps and map files were created in the past. Currently, the Digital Technical Maps of the Regions (DTM of the Regions) project is being implemented, which uniformly covers the details of the territory of the entire Czech Republic in high detail. The City of Prague cooperates with the Central Bohemian Region on the DTM project, and the administration of the DTM is provided by the Prague Institute of Planning and Development (IPR Prague). The book describes in detail the individual activities of mapping projects, whether directed by private cartographers (Herget&apos;s plan), the first project of the state map work of a stable cadastre, thematic purpose maps of large scales up to the present day. Currently, extensive geographic databases are being built with data on the given territory, both of objects of the basic surface situation and of special objects of transport and technical infrastructure with specific attributes for individual DTM objects. A technical map as a graphic output is only one of the possible ways of documenting the current situation in the territory. DTM, however, has a multifaceted use in spatial planning processes, building permits and digitalization processes of construction management, records of observed phenomena important for territory management, up to record purposes. The book is an important document of the time and an important editing effort of the Institute of the Prague Institute of Planning and Development.
