Methodology for the thermographic measurement of hub cover

The methodology is dealing with the thermography measurement of the hub cover. The methodology was developed in the frame of the project LN00B084 and the one was used in Daiho s.r.o. Hub cover is a plastic injected part with a steel-rubber insert. The liquid hub cover material (ABS plastic with glass fibres) is injected into a steel mould, where it solidifies and cools down to a temperature below 60 °C. After the cooling, the injected part is automatically removed from the mould and placed on a belt conveyer, it cools further down and it is transported to a next treatment. Thermographic measurement of the cooling process of the part was performed in order to determine the part temperature profile after its removal from the mould and to discover possible temperature field non-homogeneities. This measurement should help to solve the problem of a part cracking that occurred during their transportation.
