Self-sufficiency level of rheumatoid arthritis patients

Objective: Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic disease affecting usually different joint structures in the host body. The disease brings a number of problems to the patient which are reflected in the patient's self-sufficiency. This article aims to outlinethe issues of self-sufficiency in patients with rheumatoid arthritis. Methods: The article is based on the data acquired in the course of research of the team grant project number 120/2012/S "Reflection of quality of life in nursing", focused on ascertainment of areas in which selected diseases can affect the individual's subjectively perceived quality of life. The quantitative inquiry of individuals with rheumatoid arthritis was performed with the help of a set of standardized WHOQOL 100 questionnaires and of the specific HAQ questionnaire in the period from January to April 2013. The research set consisted of 200 individuals suffering from that disease from all over the Czech Republic.
