The Role of Nurses During the COVID-19 Pandemic
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
In modern world history, four significant pandemics have been recorded in the 20th and 21st centuries. These were associated with the Spanish Flu, Asian Flu, Hong Kong Flu, and the H1N1 pandemic in the Czech Republic Pandemic Plan. In the last 20 years, several epidemics of acute respiratory disease with pandemic potential have occurred. In the future, it is expected that further epidemics/pandemics of viral respiratory diseases can and will follow, for which it is necessary to prepare health professionals (and hence the health system) and the public. Known pandemics in the past have brought with them significant loss of life and valuable experience that has improved the care of patients with infectious diseases. The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted several complex ethical issues that health professionals, and especially nurses, face in caring for patients and families. Issues have also surfaced that may create concerns for nurses, particularly in the safety of patients, colleagues, and families, but also in the changing nature of nurses' relationships with patients and families. The main objective of the project is to describe the role of the nurse during epidemics/pandemics in the health care system, i.e. from the perspective of nurses, physicians, and patients in high-risk, low-risk and primary care settings, and to clarify the factors influencing the work activities of the nurse. Supported by a program of the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic reg. No NU 21-09-00300. All rights under intellectual property regulations are reserved.
