Die Studie beschäftigt sich mit dem Leben und der Tätigkeit von Jiří František Holík, der aus einer böhmischen nichtkatholischen Familie stammte, aber wurde Mitglied des Dominikaner Ordens. Im Jahre 1666 floh er nach Zittau und bemühte sich, eine Stelledes protestantischen Predigers zu erwerben, studierte in Wittenberg und es gelang ihm, eine Unterstützung von protestantischen Theologen und Adeligen zu erwerben. Seine Tätigkeit als auch Bemühungen, sich als ein protestantischer Priester durchzusetzen,blieben erfolglos, deshalb ging er nach Preußischer Königsberg ab und zuletzt siedelte er sich in Riga an, wo er als Autor von einigen dem Gartenbau und Obstbau gewidmeten und oft herausgegebenen Büchern berühmt wurde. Außerdem veröffentlichte er auf Deutsch einige streng antikatholisch gerichtete Schriften über die Verfolgung der Nichtkatholiker in Böhmen, die ein außergewöhnlich interessantes Zeugnis über die Gedankenwelt Exilanten und Konvertit darstellen, der in seiner neuen Situatio

The paper deals with the life and activities of Jiří František Holík, who came from a a non-Roman Catholic Bohemian family, but he became a member of the Dominican Order. In 1666 he escaped to Zittau, after which he tried to work as a Lutheran preacher,studied in Wittenberg and was granted the favour of Protestant theologian and nobility. His activity as a preacher and his efforts to acquire a position was unsuccesfull, he therefore left for Prussian Königsberg and eventually settled in Riga, where hebecame known mainly as the author of books on fruit growing which were reprinted. He also published several strongly anti-Catholic oriented works in German about the persecution of non-Catholics in Bohemia. They present unusually interesting evidence concerning the intellectual world of an exile and convert trying to find a role and some support for himself in his new situation.
