The article focuses on the literary work of Lawrence Norfolk and it focuses namely on his lengthy descriptions, including a number of historical details. The article argues that Norfolk creates a new type of novel: building on the legacy of the realisticnovel he writes novels that are essentially antihumanistic and that see human identity as something accidental, fragmentary and unstable.
