Übersetzung des tschechischsprachigen OriginalsDie Ursprünge des böhmischen Staates sind mit der Christianisierung des Landes verbunden. Im späten 9. Jahrhundert war es Bořivoj, der erste historisch belegte Fürst aus dem Haus der Přemysliden, der die ersten Kirchen in Levý Hradec und auf dem Gebiet der Prager Burg baute. Wie die Ehefrau von Fürst Bořivoj Ludmila wurde auch Bořivojs Enkel Wenzel heiliggesprochen und avancierte zum Schutzpatron und himmlischen Beschützer der böhmischen Lande und ihrer Bewohner. Den Přemysliden gelang es, die Grundlagen des böhmischen Staates zu schaffen und seine Stellung im europäischen Rahmen zu festigen. Der Hof der böhmischen Herzöge und Könige war jedoch nicht nur ein machtpolitisches, sondern auch ein herausragendes kulturelles Zentrum. Die Herrscher waren jahrhundertelang die größten Stifter und Auftraggeber von Kunstwerken, deren künstlerische und ästhetische Qualität ein wichtiges Instrument der königlichen Repräsentation waren. Diese Bauten und Kunstwerke sind wichtige Zeugen der Vergangenheit des böhmischen Staates und Träger der nationalen und kulturellen Identität.

TranslationThe origins of the Czech state are linked to the Christianization of the country. In the late 9th century, it was Bořivoj, the first historically documented prince of the Přemyslid family, who built the first churches at Levý Hradec and in the area of Prague Castle. Prince Bořivoj's wife, St. Ludmila, and Bořivoj's grandson, St. Wenceslas, joined the ranks of the saints of the ruling family and became the patron saint and heavenly protector of the Czechs and the Czech land. The Přemyslids succeeded in building the foundations of the Czech state and consolidating its position in the European framework. The court of the Czech princes and kings was not only a centre of power, but also a cultural centre. For centuries, the rulers were the greatest founders, builders and commissioners of works of art, whose artistic and aesthetic quality and code of meaning were instruments of royal representation. Architecture and other works of art contributed substantially to the creation of the splendour and glory of monarchical majesty. These buildings and works of art are important witnesses to the past of the Czech state and bearers of national and cultural identity.
