Die Studie untersucht die Veröffentlichung militärisch relevanter, teilweise vertraulicher Informationen in handgeschriebenen und gedruckten Zeitungen zu Beginn des Dreißigjährigen Krieges. Am Beispiel der zweiten Belagerung von Budweis (1618–1619) analysiert sie, welche Arten von Nachrichten aus einer belagerten Stadt an die Öffentlichkeit gelangten. Der Schwerpunkt liegt auf Angaben zu Truppenstärken, Befehlshabern, Versorgungslage, Krankheiten, Scharmützeln und geplanten Operationen. Die Arbeit zeigt, dass frühneuzeitliche Zeitungen überraschend detaillierte Einblicke in militärische Vorgänge boten.

This study examines the publication of militarily sensitive information in handwritten and printed newspapers during the early phase of the Thirty Years’ War. Focusing on the second siege of Budweis (1618–1619), it analyzes which types of information circulated beyond the besieged city. Particular attention is paid to reports on troop numbers, commanders, supply conditions, disease, skirmishes, and planned military actions. The study demonstrates that early modern newspapers conveyed remarkably detailed and timely military intelligence.
