The response of four abandoned upland phytocoenoses to different management treatments
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
A study has been made of the responses of four abandoned grassland phytocoenoses in Southern Bohemia to three different management treatments. The study areas were upland phytocoenoses in an advanced successional stage, all four being meadows abandoned after World War II: (1) Molinion, (2) degraded Calthion with dominant Carex brizoides (3) a plant community with Calamagrostis villosa as the dominant expansive species, and (4) wet Filipendula grasslands. Three different treatments (cutting, liming and fertilising) were applied to the four grassland types, and their effects on diversity, plant cover and biomass production were noted. The meadows were monitored over a two-year period. The analyses showed significant differences between meadow types bothin time and in response to the treatments. Irrespective of the treatments, biomass production increased significantly, to varying degrees, in all meadows during the period, while the cover decreased slightly in the case of Calamagrostis c
