Dieser Beitrag erörtert die Charakteristik der Beziehung zu einem anderen Menschen - der eine fundamentale Bedeutung zukommt - und der Beziehung zu Gott im Denken von E. Levinas. Beide Arten dieser Beziehungen sind miteinander aufs Engste verknüpft und beide sind nach Levinas asymmetrisch verfaßt. Der ethische Anspruch des anderen Menschen macht die ethische Asymmetrie zwischen dem Ich und dem Anderen sichtbar. Die Asymmetrie zu Gott ergibt sich aus seiner radikalen Transzendenz.

The aim of this paper is to analyze the fundamental asymmetry of the relation to the other and to God in Emmanuel Levinas's philosophy. Both types of relationships cannot exist independently of each other and they are structured asymmetrically. The moraldemand made by the other shows the ethical inequality between myself and the other. The asymmetry of the relation to God results from his radical transcendence.
