Mystagogy: deepening the social dimension of youth´s faith
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
The Christian faith is fundamentally social. The reception of baptism is an individual act of each person, yet at the same time the neophytes are introduced into Christian communion through this act. Christian believers necessarily require a community with which to experience and share their faith. How can we in the Church theologically characterize a community? How can we deepen the social dimension of faith in catechesis, religious education or youth ministry? Is the social dimension of faith important for young people visiting the Diocesan Youth Centre in Ktiš or do they find different reasons for going there? What is their understanding of sharing faith in Christian community? These are the questions to be answered in this paper. The first part attempts to describe a community in the Church as a specific theological category and shows mystagogy as a traditional tool for new believers to be initiated into the Christian mystery and community. The second part shows the results of a pilot study – phenomenological research answering the question of how young people experience and interpret their faith in a Christian community with other young people. In conclusion, the possibilities for further research will be discussed.
