This article focuses on the relationship between philosophy and environmental education in secondary education, both from a theoretical and practical perspective. First, the conception of philosophy and environmental education in the Czech Republic is decribed, focusing thereby especially on the undergoing changes in the approach to teaching philosophy that might also be relevant for environmental education. Second, the international educational project of Ecoschools is introduced and it is shown that it is suitable for promoting the connection between philosophy and environmental education. In the third part, several lesson plans on environmental and animal ethics are resented that were prepared by the author as methodical support for teachers in the Ecoschool programme.
