Multifunctional agriculture is nowadays a key issue of the EU rural development under the umbrella of the II. pillar of the Common Agriculture Policy (CAP). The concept of multifunctional agriculture is also seen as a possible development scenario for EUrural areas. But there is a question of territorial impacts of such policy tools aimed at supporting the agricultural dimension of the rural development. The main aim of the paper is a theoreticalanalysis of the multifunctionality concept application inselected EU countries and critical reflection of the rural development support and its agricultural dimension in the Czech Republic in the programming period 2004 ? 2006.
