Current global situation with increasing economic, social, and environmental crisis all over the world leads inevitably to the fundamental change of society. Already, in the last century, there began to appear first voices calling for sustainable development. In the business world this way represents corporate social responsibility. This new philosophy of long-term prosperity is quite well-managed by large companies but apply it in more limited small and medium sized enterprises has certain obstacles. This paper deals with results of applied research about possibilities how to use corporate social responsibility as a competitive advantage for small and medium sized enterprises. The results clarified position of surveyed enterprises in social responsible issue. On the basis of them, there were suggested recommendations for increase competitiveness of small and medium sized enterprises through corporate social responsibility.
