Services present a very important component of a national economy. This book discusses services as economic activities, evaluates their impact on competitiveness and shows the areas in which services have a potential to develop and extend the competitiveness of other sectors and the national economy as a whole. A number of the EU member?states were observed for this purpose, among the transition economies of in Central Europe, selecting those with higher growth potential than the potential of the so?called old member?states. In the selected countries the changes proceeded more quickly, although according to the same market mechanisms.
