: The circular economy concept can ensure sustainableeconomic growth while reducing the use of natural resources. Thepaper deals with the development of the circular material use ratein EU 27 countries and the Czech Republic and the assessment ofthe relationship between this rate and economic growth. The analysis shows that the circular material use rate is slowly increasingover time in the EU 27 and the Czech Republic. The study showedthat the circular material use rate decreases with higher economicgrowth. The main reason can be the fact that economic growth isin sectors that are using the circular economy concept.
