With the main aim of researching innovative potential in European countries, in this paper the firststeps of a dissertation project are presented. Firstly, indicators of countries’/regions’ innovative potential arediscussed and identified. Secondly, individual/cultural characteristics influencing innovative potential togetherwith managerial characteristics influencing innovative potential are presented. Both aspects are introduced withinsights from literature and in a last step combined in a statistical analysis, where the correlation between theinnovation index of European countries and certain groupings/predictor is clarified.
