Cytochrome P450 induction in fish as a biochemical marker of Labe river contamination
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Cytochrome P450 is a significant biochemical marker of Labe river contamination for assessment of surface water contamination by a large scale of industrial pollutants. Cytochrome P450 is a mono-oxygenase enzymatic complex occuring practically in all live organisms, which is responsible for biotransformation of endogenous substances and xenobiotics. The activity of some pollutants causes its induction that may last even over period of several months. Its concentration is determined spectrophorometrically from fish liver samples. The increased cytochrome P450 activity is linked to increased activation of further enzymes. In fish there occurs an increase of ethoxyresorufin-O-deethylase, which is also utilized for an assessment of burdens of water ecosystems. During monitoring programme of river Labe pollution the samples from 10 differently polluted locations were collected to determine their concentration of the biochemical markers i.e. cytochrome P450 and ethoxyresorufin-O-deethylase.
